Wood & Bronze Sculpture
Since retirement I have developed an interest in three dimensional sculpture in wood, although I have had no formal training, it is very satisfying to see a shape emerging from a block of wood. At the same time being able to conceptualise in 3D is challenging.
I have had several solo and group exhibitions in Maleny and surrounds showing a mixture of my paintings, sculpture and jewellery boxes. All exceeded my expectations and I was amazed to find there were people out there who liked my wok well enough to buy it.
Since 2016 I have won several first prizes at Art Shows for my paintings and for my sculptures. Also I have been a finalist in the prestigious Wootha Prize for three years running and my work has been selected for SOTE every year since 2017.
In 2018 I gained first prize in the Fine Arts section of the Toowoomba Royal Agricultural Show for my 3D sculpture of an Ammonite fossil.
I thoroughly enjoy my hobby and I am always pleased when others like my work enough to not only buy but reward me for my efforts.
